Clouds – our eye’s daily bread

In our Blog about 10 typical characteristics of paragliding pilots (in german) we mentioned that a paraglider always looks out of the window first, when he wakes up: to check the weather. Also, a paragliding pilot always knows where the wind comes from. Both of those personal characteristics lead to one characteristic of weather: clouds.

Hawaii offers some spectacular opportunities for lots of things – of which one is taking beautiful movies of clouds.

I assume that lots of paragliders have a certain passion for clouds. What I didn’t expect is to find a group called “Cloud Appreciation Society“. Not only that there is a common platform, but it’s appreciated by more than 37’000 members! Watch the beautiful video I found on their website.

Read the “Cloud Appreciation Society manifesto”:

WE BELIEVE that clouds are unjustly maligned
and that life would be immeasurably poorer without them.
Cloud Icon

We think that they are Nature’s poetry,
and the most egalitarian of her displays, since
everyone can have a fantastic view of them.
Cloud Icon

We pledge to fight ‘blue-sky thinking’ wherever we find it.
Life would be dull if we had to look up at
cloudless monotony day after day.
Cloud Icon

We seek to remind people that clouds are expressions of the
atmosphere’s moods, and can be read like those of
a person’s countenance.
Cloud Icon

Clouds are so commonplace that their beauty is often overlooked.
They are for dreamers and their contemplation benefits the soul.
Indeed, all who consider the shapes they see in them will save
on psychoanalysis bills.

And so we say to all who’ll listen:
Look up, marvel at the ephemeral beauty, and live life with your head in the clouds!
